OUR HISTORY
Sunday, December 1, 2001 the Rehoboth Rebirth and Restoration Church assembled and commenced with its first worship service at 7:45am in Charity Baptist Church. At the invitation of salvation and discipleship, nine people joined as members, three of which were candidates for baptism. There was Sunday evening service at 6:00pm and the membership increased with each service. Year two, RRRC’s membership and ministries had outgrown the space in Charity and in January of 2002, Rehoboth relocated to Pennsylvania Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Suitland Maryland.
Pennsylvania Avenue Seven-Day Adventist Church gave RRRC a great opportunity to grow Gods people and while in this location events occurred like the Mother’s Day Prayer Breakfast, the One-Day Session, Women’s Day and in 2002, the Generation X-ceptional Youth Conference. This conference drew youth, preachers and gospel entertainment locally and from all over the East coast. Though many awesome things were happening, God had even more for Rehoboth to do. Jesus Christ opened the door for the Ministry to acquire office space on Capitol Hill located at 1337 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. This financial faith-walk required that we “Trust the Process”, which is a standard slogan at RRRC.
In March 2003, God moved the entire Church to 1337 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE and from March 2003 until March 2006. It was God’s plan for Rehoboth Rebirth and Restoration Church to inhabit this smaller edifice for work, worship and fellowship as well as maintain the financial obligations of the newly acquired facility on Benning Road that would later become our church home. The size of 1337 never stopped the body of born again believers from having high-church. The Youth Ministry, TIMS (Talented, Intelligent, Mature, and Saved) of RRRC flourished and moved into another level of exaltation for Jesus and other events like the Fall Festival, the RRRC Cantata and Watch night service grew from the small holy-ghost filled building.
On Palm Sunday - April 1, 2007, RRRC had its first service at 3701 Benning Road, NE, Washington, DC. During the first year of occupancy events like the Leadership Conference, Covenant Partner Revival, Joy Nights, Fashion Shows and Family and Friends Day took place. Rehoboth fellowshipped, worshipped and praised in this location for two and a half years and during this time, God grew Rehoboth’s faith and trust in Him all the more. Though many had thought Rehoboth was in its final destination, God had other plans and in December of 2009, the Lord uprooted RRRC and placed them at Faith United Church, 4900 10th Street, NE. It was time to release those things that were burdensome and start a fresh. Many could not SEE where things were going but that is why we walk by faith and not by sight. Since fellowshipping at this location the Lord produce one awesome event that had never been done by Rehoboth which is proof that God knows what He is doing even when we aren’t sure. This great thing was the 50 Night “Back to Pentecost” Revival. Starting the Monday after Easter until the great Pentecostal Feast on May, 24 2010 there was a burning that occurred that revived, refreshed, and refined all that took part in this event. Through our transitioning many things have happened that proves that God is still in control and working through the Rehoboth Rebirth & Restoration Ministry.
Two awesome women’s conferences were brought forth in 2011. The Broken but Not Destroyed Young Women’s Conference, occurred in August which a vision was given to Minister in Training (MIT) Epiphany Martin and less than two months later in October the Women of the Well Women’s conference, whose visionary was First Lady Donita Martin occurred. Both were life changing experiences for every woman who attended and it is for certain, after the way God moved that this would not be the last of these conferences.
During the last months of 2011 RRRC went on a journey. One that moved them from place to place as God was preparing a home for them. The week following RRRC 10th Anniversary, December 11th 2011, they moved to 7915-B Penn Randle Place, Upper Marlboro, MD 20722. Trusting and not doubting that all things work together for the good to them that serve the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Roman 8:28 proved its words true once again as Rehoboth entered into their new location.
Within two weeks RRRC acquired new and rededicated members. The church is still growing continuously, many lives have been changed over these past 10 years and for the “remnant” that are sticking with this walk, and for those who are joining us along the way, eyes have not seen nor have ears heard the great things that the Lord is already in the process of doing for this ministry and its people. United together we trust the vision that was given to Bishop Martin years ago “to create a viable community resource where the holistic needs of everyone can be met”. No one knows what God’s final plans are for Rehoboth but we are and will continue to trust the process and let the Lord lead us, and together we will continue you go the distance.
For Now the Lord Hath Made Room for Us and We Shall Be Fruitful In the Land” Genesis 26:22.
